That’s it, folks!
We already went through the refreshing Spring with its burgeoning flowers (and floral prints!), mating birds and pastel tones. Then, came the hot and steamy Summer with its bright hues, fun color blocking and all that skin showing. We are now fully into Fall with its crisp fresh air and its melancholic earth tones. Scratch that!
I tend to think about Fashion in a fun, unpretentious way. I do not like rules, unless – of course – they only exist to be broken or bent at the very least.
You see, the thing is for many people, Autumn is synonymous with soberer, darker and plainer colors.
Don’t you think that it’s already depressing enough to have to start putting the heater on? On top of that you would like to spend the whole season wearing 50 shades of gray? Not only it’s déjà vu, but let’s be honest, it’s plain boring!
Here’s what I humbly suggest and totally cheer for. In other words, here is my “how to dress” guide for a stylish Fall:
1. Pick the right colors:
Donning some warm, rich colors on thick fabrics will make you an instant eye candy.
Think orange/brick red, mustard/ocher, olive/forest green, deep blue/indigo, you get the point. Your ultimate cheat sheet: just take a look around you at the wonderful color palette of all the leaves fallen from the trees.
Side note: to avoid looking like a “bunter papagay” (German for colorful parrot), tone down these yummy hues with some more neutral shades such as creme, light gray, or lilac.
2. Carefully choose your materials:
Nothing screams better the season than the comfy and warm cashmere or the very textured tweed and corduroy. For the shoes (or even better boots), suede and leather is always a good idea.
3. Bonus tip:
Remember to make layering your best ally! Here is your chance to start experimenting with all the fun -and definitely handy- apparatus the season rhymes with: bring out these nice cardigans, scarves, mittens, tutti quanti.
Voilà! You are now ready to have fun dressing up with a little panache for the most fashionable season!
PS: Don’t be surprised if you get some free hugs from random people in the street.
You’re welcome.
Coolly yours, K.
