SO it’s the weekend and you have to get so much done before your regular workweek begins… But you really also want to enjoy your Saturday and Sunday without thinking about the dreaded Monday. CUZ it’s the Weekend for goodness sake!
And if you are like most you usually wait till Sunday to do your laundry, grocery shopping etc., but what if your friends are all meeting up for Brunch (#FOMO)? And lets not forget that Homeland and the Keeping Up with the Kardashians both come Sunday night and you really do not want to be running around or multitasking when you just want to lay on the sofa and watch all the tv you want Sunday night.
We’ll here 4 apps that I use religiously every week that 1. Keep me from running around doing boring errands, 2. Keep me from Having to make many trips and paying for high cab fares because I just simply can’t carry everything all at once, 3. Keeps me able to be relaxed and cozy on Sunday night without messing up my Kitchen. 4. And last but not least, helps me stay comfortably indoors while my pseudo chauffeur is coming to give me a ride wherever I want to go.
flycleaners
I use fly cleaners every week. I have to admit, after moving not an aptartpment without a washer and dryer was a bit of a culture shock for me. I used a local drop off cleaners wash and for, like many other New Yorkers, however I would find a few of my articles of clothing just went missing, Yikes! So I gave fly cleaners a shot and it’s been descent so far
Pros:
- Can schedule pick up times in advance, when you know you will be home.
- Accurate drop off and pick up times, if they are running late they compensate you without you having to ask.
- Able to pick up and drop off within an hour, sometimes*
- Can schedule pick up times in advance, when you know you will be home.
- You can ask for wash and dry, wash and press, wash and hang dry, and dry cleaning.
- The staff is very friendly
- They even match my socks up together.. I hate doing that myself. LOL
Cons:
- I have done the dry cleaning service a few times and there is little to no attention to detail about areas in need of a bit of extra cleaning. So go elsewhere for your dry cleaning.
- I have had one item misplaced, however the support team seems responsive.
- The reviews online are a it all over the place so I was skeptical, however I have had more issues with the local cleaners that I am satisfied with the conviences of fly cleaners.
instacart
I have actually been using instacart for a year now (see more in death article here: http://sociallyshoppable.com/style/grocery-delivery-has-never-been-easier-a-quick-review-of-instacart-and-more/ ) but that was in Los Angeles. While I have been in NYC, I have opted to try it a few times but I admit it was not as efficient, until just recently. What I mean is that I had ordered my groceries but was not able to get them delivered until approx. 1.5-2 days later. Recently and thankfully, I have had much success getting groceries within 2 hours of ordering.
Pros:
- schedule grocery delivery time
- shows if items are price matched/same as in store costs without mark-ups.
- you can choose your tip amount
- The Staff will call you as if they are literally your personal assistant to ensure the products or replacement options are exactly to your liking.
- You can shop online for groceries as if shopping for clothing, sorting from price Low to high to see which items are cheaper, that you may not have discovered inside the store.
Cons:
- On high volume days, you might have to schedule your delivery the next day
Seamless
So before living in New York I really just ordered delivery 1. directly from the restaurant I liked, 2. Through the yelp app, or 3. Through the dominos pizza website (which I don’t think I can ever do again since I have gotten accustomed to NY Pizza, YUM!) Now I really use seamless food delivery at least 3-5 times a week. I generally order a Lunsh Special of 3 rolls for approx $11.50 from Akami Sushi.
Pros:
- The app allows for filtering by Rating, New Restaurant, order tracking available, Coupons.. but the sorting is where you should focus on. I have yet to see any coupons that were really worthy to make me choose one restaurant over another. So I really just sort by Delvery Minimum or Price Ascending. But I do use the rating. I only want to see restaurants rated 4 stars or above.
