There is a new trend for the ladies and gentlemen out there who are a little optically impaired. Almost 75% of the adult population requires some form of visual corrective help, and if lasik surgery isn’t for you, then try making a fashion statement with some trendy eyeglass frames.
Colorful eyeglasses have been popping up on the runway in fun colors and patterns with designs heavily influenced by the past few decades. Not sure which color is for you? Try starting by matching them to your hair and eye color.
Fair skin and hair compliment a lighter, neutral palette, tortoiseshell print, or even a leopard print-inspired pattern like these from Prada or a funky pair like the ones I’m wearing below by Warby Parker.
Darker skin and hair color can pull off the brighter, more intense colors. If you want to ease into it try a red or pink to flatter your skin tone without coming across as too bright.

If a single color appears to be too much, try some two tone colors like these from Kate Spade.
The shape of your frames can also portray a perception of your personality. Glasses that extend slightly upwards in a cat eye shape speaks to a sweeter look reminceint of Bridget Bardot and Marilyn Monroe, while thicker frames traditionally portray an adverting or creative mind.
These glasses from Elizabeth and James have a slight upwards tip without going overboard on the style (pictured left):
Since purchasing glasses online without trying them on first can be tricky, I’d recommend the 5-day trial period that Warby Parker offers. You pick out 5 frames you like, try them out for a few days to see if they fit your face and coordinate well with your skin and hair color.
Even if you don’t need glasses but want to make a fashion statement, frames with clear lenses are a great way to try out a new style. Have fun with it!
