Black and white, denim, florals, army, and the 70’s dominated the spring 2015 runways but I’m most excited to see pink come back. While my spring wardrobe will remain in monochromatic black and white, I can’t wait to update my look with pops of fresh pink! I’ll take it all – fuchsia, magenta, blush, and coral. Just thinking of the pink reminds me of those beautiful little dessert boxes from The Grand Budapest Hotel. How can you not like the colour?
In my style of dressing I feel most comfortable in black because it’s bold and makes a statement, and the same can be said about fuchsia. There’s something really powerful about the colour and I’ve always be drawn to it. My key to adding pink into my wardrobe this season will be incorporating just a splash of colour. I think it’s a colour best used with neutrals like brown, grey, white and black. On the other hand, pink is perfect with cobalt blue, yellow, mint green, red, and orange. But forget about that for a moment because it’s not about colour blocking but using a pop of pink to freshen your look. Just imagine head to toe whites with a nude sandal and a blush pink bag. Perfection! My newly acquired pink items include – ankle pants, a bright pink boho inspired bag, and a cute leather box bag. I know these pieces are a little unusual for my style but that’s what makes them so much fun! And pink fits in perfectly with all of the key trends this season.

After loving black and navy nails all winter, I’ll be moving my manicures towards traditional pinks and nudes. I’m imagining an all black outfit with beautiful pink nails and a bright pink lip to match to make the look less tough and more polished and feminine. Just like it’s important to update your wardrobe with colour, the same rule should be applied to make up. One of my favourite lipstick colours is Impassioned by MAC. It’s a bright pink colour that goes well with every skin tone and makes me feel amazing when I wear it! Benetint by Benefit is the perfect pink flush for the cheeks and lips and I’ll be using it a lot with my bold lips. Just remember to keep the rest of the face clean and fresh so you don’t look like your competing with Barbie!
I’m loving pink as my go to colour. Even seeing the pink insole of my slip on sneakers or pink shoe boxes by Acne and Miu Miu make me happy. Again, it’s all about that little pop of colour so I don’t end up looking like a fairy tale princess.
